For the longest time, the royal couples have chosen to have fruitcake as it symbolized prosperity in the past. Another perk is that it doesn’t spoil fast, giving decorators ample time to make the cake as grand as they can. A good case in point is the Queen’s four-tier fruitcake, which reportedly weighed 500 pounds.
