Sha Na Na Launched Their Fame

When the rock and roll group “Sha Na Na” set foot on the Woodstock stage, they were just newbies in the industry. They had no idea their performance on that specific day would launch them to success. The band comprised of Columbia University goers performing songs from the ’50s.

The group secured a slot at the festival through the help of their friend, musical icon Jimi Hendrix. They performed songs such as “Get a Job” and “His Latest Flame,” and their presence was considered a show-stopper that left a lasting impression on the audience. They even got a standing ovation after their set-closing song, “At the Hop.”
