Just As The Rain Stopped Pouring
Arlo Guthrie is the son of singer-songwriter Woody Guthrie. He continued his father’s iconic ability to write songs about social injustice and perform them like he was storytelling. He brought life to the Woodstock festival just at the right time that the rain stopped pouring and the crowd settled in the center.
He closed his set with his rendition of “Amazing Grace,” and the festival played his minor hit “Coming into Los Angeles.” However, Arlo is best remembered for his 18-minute satirical talking blues song “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree.” Although he retired, he continued the family legacy and bore four children who also pursued music.
