Schlager is a type of pop music popular in Germany, Austria, Albania, Scandinavia, and the Baltic states. When it comes to Schlager, there aren’t many bigger names than German Tony Marshall.
Marshall initially trained as an opera singer, although he never pursued that genre. Instead, he chose a career in pop music and had his first hit with the song Schöne Maid in 1971. The song was so popular that he did an English version called Pretty Maid a year later. It was a hit in Australia and peaked at number 16 on the local chart.
