Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner
It’s no secret that Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner are one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting couples. In 1971, when Tomlin was starting out as a comedian, and Wagner was already a successful playwright, the two were introduced by a mutual friend. Tomlin remembers it as love at first sight, saying, “I fell in love with her in two minutes!”
Their creative collaboration was almost instantaneous, with Wagner writing iconic characters for Tomlin, like Ernestine, the telephone operator, and Edith Ann, the precocious five-year-old, and the two working together on Tomlin’s Emmy-winning variety show and films like “Nashville” and “9 to 5.” They finally tied the knot in 2013.
