Sydney Leroux, 31 – Surrey, Canada
Meet Canadian football player Sydney Leroux, another spawn of sport-oriented parents. While her father was a pro baseball player, her mother played softball for the Canadian national team. So although Leroux showed promise in 4 x 100m relay races, she stuck with football.
Joining Coquitlam City Wild in 2003, she helped the team to three consecutive championships. She went pro in 2005 and joined the Vancouver Whitecaps. Since 2008, she’s represented the U.S., and her record-equalling five goals in a qualifying match against Guatemala summarizes her prowess. In 2021, Leroux signed a contract extension with Orlando Pride.
