We’ve come across our fair share of athletes, and a common theme that runs through their coming-of-age stories is how they started training for their chosen sport early. Still, it’s pretty surprising to discover that Aly Raisman began gymnastics when she was 18 months old.

Such a head start may have largely contributed to her success as an artistic gymnast. So by her retirement in 2020, she was a two-time Olympian and the third-most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history. In 2022, Raisman advocated for victims of assault in the documentary series “Darkness to Light.”
