Serena Williams, 40 – Michigan, United States
No mention of female tennis greats is complete without Serena Williams. Winning her 23rd grand slam title at the 2017 Australian Open cemented her legendary status. Since a maternity leave later that year, she’s had setbacks but in 2020 won the ASB Classic.
Being the daughter of tennis coaches must have been a good headstart for Williams. And by age nine, she was enrolled in a tennis academy. Williams faced a rough start to her professional career, but her perseverance obviously paid off. She’s also won 14 doubles grand slam titles by teaming up with her sister Venus. In 2022, Williams was a guest presenter at the Oscars.
