This sounded like a bizarre explanation to the vets. There have been instances where snakes have swallowed plastic materials, but these are very rare. Also, the meat’s unusual odor should have alarmed the snake’s strong sense of smell and warded it off instead of attracting it. This particular snake might have been ravenous.

The whole thing seemed strange to them, but it wasn’t impossible. There was only one way to find out. Working carefully, they pried off the coolbox from the snake’s belly and revealed its contents. Sure enough, it was filled with rotten meat.
