As the Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer is expected to live in the official mansion of the post-holder. In that capacity, the politician has two residences to her name, the primary one, which is located in Lansing, and the summer house, situated on Mackinac Island.

At the time of construction, the original cost of the latter property was somewhere around $15K when it was bought in 1944. By now, the price must have touched great heights, making the place immeasurably expensive. Not that Gretchen herself has to pay a penny of that sum!

Ted Cruz boasts an impressive home in the city of Houston valued at a bank crunching $2 million. However, Cruz got the house for $1.5 million back in 2011, and we understand why its value was appreciated in a short span.

The glorious structure was built in 1940, occupying 4142 square feet. Despite its old age, the house has kept with the times and is fitted with a gourmet kitchen with dark hardwood panels.
