The Curious Case Of Urban Foxes
This phenomenon of wild animals living within city limits isn’t unique to Colorado Springs at all. In fact, foxes have been spotted in cities in the UK since the ‘30s. And by the late 2010s, their numbers reached 150,000, according to the Natural History Museum in London.
Meanwhile, Colorado’s capital city Denver even published a guide to help its residents safely interact with the red foxes they live in close proximity with. It’s speculated that it’s the abundance of food and places of refuge that attract the omnivorous animals to take up residence in the metropolis.
