Albert Watson Newton (83) – Victoria, Australia

Albert Newton’s glowing career as a media personality was marked by many accomplishments. Not only did he work with famous entertainers like Graham Kennedy and Don Lane on their respective variety shows. He also had the honor of hosting the Logie Award 19 times.

For a man who became such a pinnacle of success within the Australian entertainment industry, it’s interesting that Newton started in radio. His first paid job was for an advertisement on Melbourne radio station 3XY in 1952. He also made regular appearances on programs and children’s shows, and finally, in 1957, he made his television debut.
