When you earn a king’s ransom for your work, you should live in a castle, like a king. At least, that’s what logic suggests. But while celebrities earn big bucks, they don’t live in palaces, although it’s not for lack of trying.

They do still own impressive homes, most coming with some pretty exceptional amenities. Some have pools and spas, others have more bathrooms than bedrooms, and most are on grounds extensive enough for building another house. Heck, some of them really do have extra homes on the property. Idris Elba – $3.5 Million, London

Besides being the smoldering actor who had roles in films like The Dark Tower, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and Pacific Rim, Idris Elba has also had roles in the Thor and Avengers movies. Over and above that, he moonlights as a DJ going by the name DJ Big Driis.

This means Elba doesn’t spend lots of time at home. But when he is home, he’s in his hometown of London, where he owns a $3.5 million Grade II house with a basement intended for becoming a music and film studio. The Suicide Squad, a film starring Elba, is due out in 2021.

Anthony Hopkins – $11 Million, Malibu
