In addition to the typical ground, air, and sea defenses, the Italian Armed Forces also have a fourth division that they call Carabinieri. This branch assists as military police inside the country as well as act as a combat force for missions abroad. All these sections report to the President.
Ever since the second world war, Italy’s military has mainly assisted NATO, UN, EU, and CIS in their battles, such as the ones in Afghanistan and the Gaza-Egypt border. Besides that, they are also involved in maintaining peace by stopping illegal substances and human trafficking, terrorism, and piracy across the country.
