Normani has been through a lot during her youth. Initially growing up in New Orleans, She and her family had to relocate after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina left them destitute. But Derrick and Andrea Hamilton had kept things together, and moved the family to Pearland, Texas.

This stability made a huge difference in her life. It also taught her perseverance, which stood her in good stead when she entered and was eliminated from X-Factor but brought back in the group Fifth Harmony. She has since gone solo and had success in 2021 with a song called “Wild Side” with Cardi B.
