The first septuplets to survive birth were delivered in Des Moines, Iowa, 21 years ago. As soon as the news broke, news outlets rushed to get photographs of the babies. The seven siblings are now all grown up.
A lot of people don’t realize how common multiple births are. With the popularity of fertility treatments increasing, more and more couples are conceiving. Twins are estimated to occur in as many as one in every 30 births. Triplets are less common not to mention septuplet. The more babies there are, the less likely the outcome becomes. Complications are more likely to occur as the number of babies carried increases.
