Everybody Stop
The familiar red, yellow, and green traffic lights have been helping to control traffic for over a century, since they were first used in Cleveland, Ohio in 1914. For over 150 years, these lights have come to be a distinctive sight in urban areas with high traffic and congested roads.
While the system has proven to be incredibly effective, the financial cost to purchase and install one of these systems can be quite hefty, typically around $200K. It is an odd sight to see one in a rural area, less congested area such as this, and one can’t help but wonder if this money could have been better spent elsewhere.
