Not His Intention
Before anybody jumps to a conclusion, Tom didn’t intend for the ladies to be arrested, especially since he just wanted them to learn never to steal someone’s parking slot. Calling the police was never part of the plan, but things unfolded quite fast and the authorities turned out to be the same people who caught what probably would be an accident later on.
Nonetheless, it would seem to be a blessing in disguise in hindsight. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there’s an average of 28 people die every day due to drunk driving-related accidents.
