Coldest Place On Earth
The temperature recorded at the Vostok Station of – 89.6°C (-129°F) is best known for being the lowest on Earth in Antarctica. However, in parts scattered around a high ice ridge between Dome Fuji and Dome Argus, a satellite measured the temperature at – 93.2°C (-136°F)!
The reason why the measurement of the East Antarctic Plateau was never officially recognized is that the World Meteorological Organization only recognizes calculations above a few meters off the ground. The difference may be significant to researchers, but it is still pretty cold if you ask us!
