When Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born in 2019, it was reported that his parents refused to have him styled with a royal title. But as Markle revealed to Winfrey, it was the royal family who didn’t want to do so. What’s more, the former Suits actress said that The Firm planned on changing the title protocol when Prince Charles becomes king someday.

This would leave Archie without the prince title and the level of security that comes with it, as is customary for all the reigning monarch’s grandchildren. Markle emphasized that it’s the security she wants more for her son rather than the royal status.
