Startling Frustration
As Clare later wrote, she would laugh at the moments in the ballroom as soon as she got there. Indeed, she was surrounded by ladies in much shorter outfits than hers, albeit the damsels were shorter in stature. Their diminutive figures made their short ensembles stand out less from the crowd.
Although it was frustrating for Clare, she made it inside and was psyched up for the party. Minutes later, Clare and some of her friends noticed an occurrence looming above their heads. It was so alarming that it would shock anyone.
