Transport secretary Grant Shapps’ exact fortune may remain unclear, but one thing’s for sure: he could afford a luxurious lifestyle. In a 2015 report, The Independent detailed his ownership of a private plane, a luxury vehicle, and a six-bedroom mansion, which Shapps boasted about in a 2004 sales letter.
He managed to bounce back from this revelation and a setback in his position within the Conservative Party, though. His redemption came when Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed him to Johnson’s cabinet. Shapps still holds the position as of 2021 and is busy guiding British citizens about travel safety amid a global crisis.
