Neil Young – Age 76
The Canadian-American musician Neil Young is a Golden Age singer-songwriter immortalized in the entertainment industry thanks to his solo albums like “After the Gold Rush.” The 1945-born environmentalist and filmmaker began his musical career in the ’60s in Winnipeg before relocating to Los Angeles. He joined Buffalo Springfield, a defunct rock band.
Although his age is receding, the “Rust Never Sleeps” album producer isn’t in a hurry to retire, even directing and appearing in the 2021 album “Young Shakespeare.” He’s credited with releasing several critically acclaimed albums in his nearly 60 years of active music production, including “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” and “On the Beach.”
Joni Mitchell – Age 78
If you’ve not heard of the singer Joni Mitchell, now’s a good time to rectify that. After all, any artiste with 10 Grammy Awards and a Hall of Fame induction has undoubtedly proved their mettle. But before Mitchelle achieved her iconic status in front of a global audience, she performed in nightclubs since 1964.
Fast forward to today, and most of us know the lyrics of her hits. And when we say hits, we mean songs like “Coyote,” “A Case of You,” and 1971 “River.” Although she’d broken hearts after retiring from music, Mitchelle seems to keep finding her way back to her teeming fans.
Tommy Chong – Age 83
Think Tommy Chong’s name sounds familiar? That’s because he’s one-half of the popular Cheech & Chong comedy duo with Cheech Marin. Known for his philosophical stoner alter ego, the Canadian native rose to prominence in the ‘70s and hasn’t left the limelight since.
Now in his 80s, Chong is still alive and kicking. Still sporting his signature beard and mustache, it seems like the only thing that changed about him is his tresses turning white. Taking advantage of his stage persona, the Up In Smoke star released an eponymous brand of cannabis-related health products in 2020.
Barbara Parkins – Age 79
Immortalized as a slim brunette in the ‘60s movie Valley Of The Dolls, Barbara Parkins is still a beauty today at the age of 79. The Canadian-American actress, who’s also known for her role in the popular soap Peyton Place, has seemingly retired from acting and last appeared in a 1998 TV movie about writer Jacqueline Susann.
While not much is known about her current life, Parkins name still sometimes makes the news. In 2020, the writer Stephen Rebello published a book about the Valley Of The Dolls novel and film called Dolls! Dolls! Dolls!
