While some people may know Barry Bostwick for his excellent acting skills, others hold him in high esteem for his musical career. In a journey that started in 1970, the public took notice of this San Mateo-born legend when he played Brad Majors in the 1975 musical comedy horror movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Bostwick again outdid himself between 1996 and 2002, playing Mayor Randall Winston in the satire “Spin City.” His successful musical theater career won him a Tony Award for his part in “The Robber Bridegroom.” He’s still very active, even starring in the 2021 series “The Potwins.”

Bernadette Peters, 74 Years Old

At first glance, it may be hard to explain just how Bernadette Peters has already had more than six decades of career-spanning experience. The actress-singer and children’s book novelist is known for her starring roles in musical theater, movies, and TV shows. Peters has had several solo concert performances and highly successful recordings.

Even though her age may be moving her towards retirement, the multiple award winner has no such plans in the offing. The critically acclaimed Broadway performer has been a mainstay in the 2022 series “High Desert,” playing the roles of Rosalyn and Ginger. Her spare time is spent churning out children’s books.

Carol Burnett, 89 Years Old

For nearly seven decades, Carol Burnett has featured prominently as a singer and actress on our screens. Her breakthrough came from “The Carol Burnett Show,” the first comedy-variety program hosted by a woman, which aired on CBS. Her versatility has led her to feature in several TV shows, stage performances, and movies of all manner of genres, including comedic and dramatic roles.

The ’90s may be fast calling on this legendary comedienne and writer, signaling her retirement. However, she’s not planning to do so if her outstanding performance in the 2022 series “Better Call Saul” as Marion is anything to go by.

Bobby Sherman, 79 Years Old

Remember the 1969 hit song “Little Woman?” Well, the man behind the tune was the American former singer Bobby Sherman, who was a well-known teen idol in the ’60s and ’70s. A prominent actor as well, Sherman was involved in show business until 1997, when he announced his retirement.

Sherman disappeared from the public eye in the early ’00s but remained active. He started working as a reserve deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County and held the position until 2010. From 2010 onwards, he’s been presumably retired for good. A philanthropist as well, Sherman runs a foundation that supports promising young students in Ghana.

Helen Shapiro, 75 Years Old

The British pop singer Helen Shapiro was born to be on the stage. She was a chart-topper in her native country when she was only 14 years old but continues to be active in the music industry. She’s reportedly been performing with a trio band called “Hebron” since 2015.

If you don’t know who Shapiro is, that’s probably because you were not around in the ’60s. Back then, she landed two major hit singles in 1961 (the songs “You Don’t Know” and “Walkin’ Back to Happiness)” and toured with this “little” British group called “The Beatles” in 1963! She’s been a Messianic Jew since 1987.
