Born in Ghana, Ama K. Abebrese was raised in the United Kingdom. She has worked in both African and British media. Her work in Ghana includes an AMAA Award-winning performance in “Sinking Sands.” She won Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2011 for her role as Pabi, the wife of a man who becomes disfigured in an accident.
She was also a part of “Azali,” a film that made strides when it became Ghana’s first-ever selection for the Oscars. Her role in British media includes presenting for BBC2. Abebrese is also known for activism focusing on child safety and the fight against colorism and skin bleaching amongst darker individuals.
