The Entrance To A Secret Military Complex Carved Into A Mountain
As it turns out, Area 51 is far from the only military facility in the United States that’s being kept from the public. While not entirely a guarded secret, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado is a place few people outside the military will ever see. Once occasionally open for tours, it was shielded from curious eyes after 9/11.
The facility was originally built in the ‘60s amid Cold War worries. The complex was carved into the mountain by excavation, which took over a year to complete. Today, it’s reportedly being used to analyze data from a worldwide security system and warn American officials of impending missile attacks.
