Blessed By the Sports Gods

We all know about the modern Olympic Games, such as the 2012 London Summer Olympics (in the picture). But the Olympics have such a great and ancient history that they can’t really be compared to any other big sports event that exists today.

The Olympics were originally held in Ancient Greece as a way to honor the God of Zeus. Like today’s Olympics, they were held every 4 years and featured representatives from multiple city-states. Nowadays, the Gods aren’t really a part of the Olympic festivities. But if you don’t believe in coincidences, you may think. They’re still watching, blessing the 2012 games with this beautiful extra Olympic ring.
