Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller – Not Public
Marina Abramović, a world-renowned performance artist, said that two artists should never marry. This generalization referred to her own experience since Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller are living the best married life as artists.
Cardiff mostly works with audio installations, often in collaboration with her spouse, Miller. She first gained international recognition for her audio walks in 1995, which circled themes of memory, displacement, and desire. Recently, the couple won the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize in honor of their life’s work, having contributed to new perspectives on sculpture in the 20th and 21st centuries. Their exhibition will open in November 2021.
