Driving Makes Royals Feel More “Normal”
Despite having chauffeurs at their service, some royal family members like to drive themselves every now and then. You might have seen photos of the Queen behind the wheel of her Range Rover on the way to events. Prince William also notably drove his wife and newborn son home from the hospital in 2013.
According to royal correspondent Duncan Larcombe, this is a way for royals to feel more normal— as normal as they can in their position, at least. It’s also one of the few times they can get away from the spotlight and have a bit more freedom, he said.
