Former NFL star and current discus athlete Lawrence Okoye has proven his skills in a variety of sports. But that still wasn’t enough to save him and his wife, Philippa Okoye, from alleged harassment. In 2015, Philippa filed a suit against her then-employer deVere, a financial advisory firm, for reportedly making racist comments targeted at Lawrence.
Fortunately, that didn’t stop him from continuing his sports career. He’s currently in Tokyo to compete at the ongoing Olympics in the discus event. According to recent reports, the former San Francisco 49ers signee is no longer in competition for a medal as of July 2021.
