Prunella Scales, 88
Since she became an active actress in 1952, Prunella Scales has been cast in Comedic roles. So she was basically the perfect candidate for her titular rials as Sybil Fawlty, Basil Fawlty’s wife in Fawlty towers. She was also nominated for a BAFTA award for playing Queen Elizabeth II in the one-act stage play A Question of Attribution.
She got her big TV break opposite Richard Briers in the 1960s sitcom Marriage Lines. She also landed roles in radio serials for BBC Radio 4, such as After Henry, Smelling of Roses, and Ladies of Letters. Her last appearance came in a 2017 documentary called The Actor’s Apprenticeship.
