Jake Barreau and Hunter Bishop

Jake Barreau’s story is one of courage and inspiration. It was no small feat when he decided to come out of the closet in 2020. But instead of it hindering him, it led him to the University of Oklahoma and into the embrace of LGBTQ+ allies and supporters.

At the university, Barreau found the perfect harmony between his career aspirations and personal life with Hunter Bishop. As the Assistant Volleyball Coach, he felt a sense of freedom and acceptance that had eluded him before. And with Bishop by his side to share the experience with, there was nothing more he could need.
