Derek Fowlds – Pneumonia
Bernard Woolley, a character on Yes Minister, gained Derek Fowlds heightened recognition in the industry. For 18 years, he also appeared on ITV’s procedural drama Heartbeat as Mr. Derek. Woolley died in January 2020 following a bout of pneumonia. The Basil Brush Show actor was receiving medical care at the Royal United Hospital at the time of his passing.
His assistant Helen Bennett had nothing but kind words to say about him, and she described Woolley as the nicest person ever. Piers Morgan shared the same sentiments and said that he was an all-around terrific actor. Basil Brush attended his funeral and recited a poem.
