Silvio Horta – Suicide

Silvio Horta was behind several hit shows, but he’s best remembered for serving as the head writer and executive producing Ugly Betty. His expertise as a writer resulted in the creation of productions like Urban Legend, Horror Movie: The Movie, and he recently consulted in P-Valley in 2020.

Horta took his life in January 2020, and Variety reported that his demise was through a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Aged 45 at his death, he had lived openly as a gay man after coming out when he was 19. America Ferrera, star of the Ugly Betty series, shared her condolences through an Instagram post saying that his creativity imparted light and joy.
