Shrek 2 (2004)
When Shrek 2 writers poked fun at Israeli singer David D’or in the Hebrew version of the film, it would later come back to bite them in the backside. The seemingly harmless joke apparently drove the Ptach Libcha crooner up the wall, with him later suing the film producers in court.
After losing the case in a Tel Aviv District Court, Shrek 2 was pulled from 20 cinemas across the country. According to the court’s ruling, the ban would be automatically lifted once the joke, which according to D’or, presented the singer as a eunuch and made fun of his masculinity, was removed from the final version.
