McKayla Maroney, 26 – California, United States
McKayla Maroney comes from an athletic family; her father was a quarterback, and her mother was into figure skating. So understandably, as a child, Maroney was very motivated to begin gymnastics. Nothing could stand in her way once she decided that she wanted to make it to the Olympics.
Today, Maroney is the proud owner of several medals, including gold and silver medals from the 2012 Summer Olympics and another gold medal at the 2013 World Championships. In addition, in 2013, she became the first American woman to defend a world title on vault. Also, in 2021, she appeared in several T.V. commercials for GEICO.
