Maggie Tabberer (85) – Parkside, Adelaide
Maggie Tabberer worked as a model before transitioning into a career in Australian television. She landed her first job at 14, but it was a one-off. And it wasn’t until age 23, when she caught the attention of renowned photographer Helmut Newton that she finally began her glamor industry career.
Tabberer moved from getting photographed in pretty clothes to writing about beautiful people wearing pretty clothes and began writing for the Daily Mirror. She also appeared as a panelist on the talk show “Beauty and the Beast.” And from 1970 to 1971, she received two consecutive Gold Logie Awards for the most popular personality in Australian television.
