As per USA Today, Russia has the second most powerful military in the world, only falling below America’s. Also known as the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, it employs about 850K active and over two million inactive personnel for its defense and warfare.

Russia’s forces have multiple branches in it to assist in various respects. These include ground troops, an air force, a navy, and logistics, among a few others. The organization of the modern military of the country came into existence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the return of troops from the East European states.
