Survivors At Plymouth
Another city that played an indispensable role in the aftermath of the tragedy is Plymouth. It was where the crew that survived the Titanic were brought to two weeks after the shipwreck and before they were able to return to Southampton, where their journey began.
The 86 crew members had to stay overnight in Plymouth with the men sleeping aboard the British passenger liner that was taking them home. The women had more comfortable accommodations, though. The 20 stewardesses were provided accommodations at The Duke of Cornwall, a nearby luxury hotel.
