The Wreckage Is Slowly Disappearing
Since the Titanic’s wreckage was found in 1985, many other expeditions have been launched to explore the famous ship’s sunken remains about 13,000 feet deep in the Atlantic Ocean. Its current location is estimated to be 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland, Canada.
Among the latest dives that visited the site was conducted by Triton Submarines in August 2019. They discovered that the ship was deteriorating significantly due to a combination of metal-eating bacteria and underwater currents. While the Titanic would likely cease to exist someday, its memory would be kept alive thanks to the many photos, books, and movies that tell its story.
