Tony Allen – Aortic Aneurysm
One of the men who introduced the genre Afrobeat to the world was renowned musician Tony Allen. The Nigerian artist is commonly referred to as the greatest drummer in history for his playing skills, a hobby that he started when he was just 18 after he was inspired by modern African music.
The 79-year-old’s sudden death in April 2020 shocked the world, especially fans of the Africa ’70. Allen, who has been residing in Paris, France, died of an aortic aneurysm, which is when a bulge forms in the aorta, or the blood vessel that transports blood from the heart to other parts of the body.
