Gina Mastrogiacomo – Myocarditis
At 39, Italian-American star Gina Mastrogiacomo had a promising career ahead of her. She debuted in the 1989 film Alien Space Avenger but rose to popularity when she played Janice Rossi, Ray Liotta’s lover, in the classic 1990 Martin Scorsese crime movie Goodfellas.
Then, she also appeared in shows like Seinfeld, Under Suspicion, NYPD Blue, Harry and the Hendersons, and The X-Files, which was her last credit before her death in 2001. Still young when she passed away, Mastrogiacomo suffered from a rare inflammation of the heart’s muscles, which may be due to a viral infection.
