Behold! A Child!
As Antarctica is mostly used as a place for scientists to do research, it seems unlikely that anyone would be born there. But, since its discovery, a total of eleven people have taken their first breath there!
The first person ever to come into the Antarctic world was Emilio Marcos Palma, who was birthed there in 1978. Emilio’s mother and father had been sent there by the Argentinian government in the hopes that the child’s birth would result in the country being able to claim a portion of the continent. We don’t know if this governmental stunt worked!
