Shami Chakrabarti spent much of her professional career as the director of Liberty, a human rights campaign group. A barrister by training, she was made a life peer in 2016 and served as a shadow attorney general until 2020. Known for her association with the Labour Party, she’s faced some criticisms about her lifestyle in previous years.
Although it is unknown exactly how much Chakrabarti has in her coffers, she was once slammed for sending her son to an expensive private school. She didn’t shy away from acknowledging the kind of privilege she’s afforded for her family over the years, though.
