What Do You Mean By Retirement?
The Amish don’t retire; they just slow down as they get old. But what they do when they reach a ripe old age is move in with one of their kids. Not that these kids aren’t prepared for it. With all that money they saved from not paying social security, they should have built a Dawdy Haus on their property.
They have a separate living space set aside for “retiring parents,” which offers them privacy but puts them close to their kids. That way, if anything goes wrong, there’s an able-bodied person close at hand to assist. The oldies never stop helping around the farm and house, though.
