Records Are Made To Be Broken
The American surfer Garrett McNamara was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, but currently lives in Nazaré, Portugal. Why? The answer is pretty simple: massive waves! For a surfer, the opportunity to ride some of the world’s most impressive waves every single morning is reason enough to call a place home.
In fact, McNamara has made the very best out of his stay at Nazaré. He broke the same world record twice, first in 2011 and then in 2013. He did so by surfing the world’s biggest wave, with an estimated 100-foot! The feat turned him into a surfing superstar, and his record remains unbeaten until today.
