Irish Wolfhound – Gentle With Hunting Instincts
The Irish Wolfhound is an ancient breed of sighthound from Ireland that was once used by the Romans to hunt and battle large beasts like bears and lions. The oldest examples of wolfhounds resembled Greyhounds, but more muscular. Today, Irish Wolfhounds are considered the tallest breed and are sold for between $1,500 and $2,000.
Quirky and reclusive, they’re enormous dogs that will chase anything that moves while being generally more introverted than other hounds. Owners need a large fenced yard, and Irish Wolfhounds don’t do well as guard dogs as they don’t bark all too often. Remember, this is a breed that needs more exercise than most.
