Lakeland Terrier – Assertive And Attention Seeking
The Lakeland Terrier is named after the Lakeland in North-Western England, where they were bred to hunt foxes that would terrorize lambs on the surrounding farms. Nicknamed Lakies, they’re an affectionate breed with high energy levels. They need rigorous exercise and generally get on well with other dogs and young children.
As terriers, they’re unsuited to other small animals unless allowed to socialize often from a young age. Lakeland terriers will assume the role of alpha if their owner doesn’t assert themselves. This is a sign of their keen intelligence, but also a strong will that makes a leash necessary. Lakies sell for $1,800 to $2,200.
