Saint Bernard – Patient, Welcoming, And Loyal
The massive St. Bernards were bred by an Italian monk to rescue people at the Great St. Bernard Pass on the frigid Italian-Swiss border. While working for the hospice, these Molossoid breed dogs became famous for their size and ability to find and retrieve injured travelers in the snow.
Keep in mind, most St. Bernards will be tracking in dirt into your house and aren’t suited to living outside by themselves. They don’t need a lot of exercise and don’t do well in hot weather. Unfortunately, their large size does make them susceptible to a range of genetic conditions. Most St. Bernards sell for between $800 and $1,200.
