American Staffordshire – Affectionate, Loyal And Ferociously Protective
The American Staffordshire has been an accepted breed since 1936 and fetches between $800 to $1,000 per puppy. Renowned for their loyalty and immensely strong jaws, American Staffordshire Terriers are considered pit bulls. While infamous for the cruel sport of dogfighting, they were initially abused in bull and bear-baiting. Owners need to make sure that they’ve got a yard with high fences.
Pit Bulls will become destructive if they get bored, resorting to digging and chewing. Early socialization is needed, but it takes some training to get them used to a leash. Most American Staffordshire Terriers need frequent teeth-brushing and nail trimming but don’t have an odor or shed.
